Sound Test
For this demonstration, I’m using my Audix Fusion Series microphones with no EQ, compression, reverb, or processing of any kind. I start with a close up of the crash cymbal. I then play the whole kit in a few different styles. Finally, I demonstrate the bell at the end for a few hits.
Final Thoughts
This is my middle-ground cymbal. Usually, this is the smallest crash cymbal that I’ll ride on, and the biggest crash cymbal I’ll use for accents. I have an 18″ crash cymbal that I use almost exclusively for riding, and a 15″ crash cymbal that I use almost exclusively for accents. This cymbal is versatile to cover both riding, and accents, and allows me to change up my sound in both areas. The bell is small, and doesn’t produce much sound. That isn’t a concern to me, since I only strike the bells of ride cymbals.
